Maintenance Mechanic Job

MAINTENANCE MECHANIC is needed for a CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in SANTA FE SPRINGS, CA.

- Manager looking for a candidate with good electrical skills and experience maintaining production machines. Knowledge of safety protocols is a must.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- Responsible for troubleshooting, performing repairs and preventive maintenance inspections on all production machinery, production systems and plant support equipment with minimum supervision.
- May support in training new employees/staff, coordinating others' tasks and resolving technical issues.
- Install, repair, and rebuild production machinery, production systems and plant support equipment as required.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical malfunctions on equipment by using standard troubleshooting techniques and drawings, instructions manuals and schematics.
- Perform periodic preventive maintenance on equipment and make recommendations for corrective action.
- Responsible for notifying supervision when spare parts and supply inventories are low and make recommendation for quantities required.
- Use precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, veneer calipers; dial indicators and meters to assist in the diagnostics and repair of equipment.
- Perform general pipe fitting tasks, plumbing tasks and electrical tasks as required to maintain the facility and production equipment.
- Must operate a forklift when required.
- Perform other duties and assignments which include: water treatment, chemical and spill management, minor fork lift repairs, building repairs and assisting peers.
- Report all accidents, incidents, and injuries, as well as unsafe work conditions or practices to supervisor immediately.
- Participate in safety campaigns, meetings, rallies, and programs on inspections and ensure responsible housekeeping in area of responsibility.
- Comply with all Carbon Products EH&S policies and procedures, including personal protective equipment use, housekeeping standards, and EH hydraulics, pneumatics, AC/DC electrical, electronics (PLC/DCS), boilers and cooling towers, general plumbing and/or HVAC.
- Proficient in systematic troubleshooting/root cause analysis to determining appropriate repair methods.
- Able and willing to work cooperatively and collaboratively with production and engineering teams to maximize production capacity.
- School Diploma is required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of journeyman level with electro-mechanical repair experience.
- Working in an EH&S excellence environment with full compliance.
- Experience working in a fast paced production environment.
- Good troubleshooting using technical manuals.
- Machine repair using basic hand tools.
- Basic computer skills (eg data entry, email, machine interface etc.).
- Good communication and organization skills.
- Able to follow medium to mildly complex procedures.
- Able to read, write and comprehend in English.
- Good teamwork across multiple shifts.
- Good problem solving skills and bias for action.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Must be able to wear a dust mask and fume respirator.
- Must be able to climb.
- Must be able to work around a dust and chemical environment.
- Will come in contact with chemicals used for manufacturing a product or used as a cleaning agent.
- Must be able to work above or below ground level.
- This is a six (6) month contract, paying between $21 - $23 per hour.
