JOB DESCRIPTION
Mainframe z/OS System Programmer works to maintain (main area), install, document and customize the Mainframe operating system and installed software.
The individual is self-starting, works with related architects and administrators and meets deadlines as negotiated.
The candidate should be self organized, eager to learn with strong sense of analysis & troubleshooting skills person.
This is a technical role which also requires strong analytical and problem solving skills. Experience in support and deployment with z/OS Operating System, is desired.
TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Provide technical support to clients and other service lines and competencies. Own and action requests for service, implementing changes and resolving assigned problems (may involve some after hours and weekend work).
- Provide 24x7 after hours oncall support as required for products supported by the team
- Personal compliance and ownership on security, audit and systems integrity posture
- Highlight areas for improvement in current processes, and implement improvements
Leadership - Attend and actively participate in weekly review meetings with the team leader and/or manager to discuss issues, concerns, people, ideas and workload
- Be a focal point in a technical and client advocate capacity and whenever rotated onto new accounts, ensure other team members are mentored to enable smooth succession of previous account
- Assist wider team performing the level 1 capability, potentially off-shore or remote locations.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Fully understand z/OS services structure, JES concepts, parallel sysplex/GDPS, catalog management
- PARMLIB configuration and JES customization
- JCL, REXX
- z/OS HW, LPAR, HMC
- IMS/MQ Series (WebSphere MQ)
- Ability to support problem and change tickets for work involving problem determination and implementation of changes on z/OS (MVS) environments, including one or more of the following areas (z/OS, Storage, RMF/EREP,SDSF, DB2, CICS, MQ)
- SMP/E
- RACF experience
- at least bachelor's degree
- good English language
