Mainframe Developer - COOL/Gen/Cobol/Telon

Our large Federal Government client is currently seeking for two (2) Mainframe Developers with strong knowledge in Cool, Gen, Cobol, or Telon to engage in the development and support of functionality for critical production systems.

This is a 12 month contract based in Canberra, ACT (incl. 1x12 month extension option).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Design, construction and testing of software solutions in the Cool:Gen 7.6 or Cobol programming languages to meet the business requirements.
- Maintenance and development of large software systems within a large IBM Mainframe environment.
- Conducting analysis of functionality and data issues.
- Deliver and maintain technical documentation.
- Deliver technical solutions to IT problems and issues.
- Communicating with a range of business staff and IT staff.
- Transferring skills to other staff.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA:

- Highly developed coding skills in Cool:Gen 7.6 (also called Advantage:Gen or AllFusion 7.n) programming language or Cobol.
- SAS and Telon are also desirable.
- Experience in maintenance and/or the development of large software systems within a large IBM Mainframe environment.
- Experience in the design and development of large scale Mainframe systems.
- Experience in the resolution of Mainframe system problems, with an emphasis on production support problems.
- Experience in DB2.
