Mainframe Developer - COOL-Gen/Cobol/Telon

Our large Federal Government client is currently seeking for two (2) Mainframe Developers with strong knowledge in Cool-Gen, Cobol, or Telon to engage in the development and support of functionality for critical production systems.

This is a 12 month contract based in Brisbane, QLD (incl. 1x12 month extension option).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Design, construction and testing of software solutions in the Cool-Gen 7.6 or Cobol programming languages to meet the business requirements.
- Maintenance and development of large software systems within a large IBM Mainframe environment.
- Conducting analysis of functionality and data issues.
- Deliver and maintain technical documentation.
- Deliver technical solutions to IT problems and issues.
- Communicating with a range of business staff and IT staff.
- Transferring skills to other staff.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA:

- Highly developed coding skills in Cool-Gen 7.6 (also called Advantage-Gen or AllFusion 7.n) programming language or Cobol.
- SAS and Telon are also desirable.
- Experience in maintenance and/or the development of large software systems within a large IBM Mainframe environment.
- Experience in the design and development of large scale Mainframe systems.
- Experience in the resolution of Mainframe system problems, with an emphasis on production support problems.
- Experience in DB2.
