Mainframe DB2 Administrator

Our Fortune 500 Direct Client in Chevy Chase, MD is looking for a Mainframe DB2 Administrator to join their team as a contractor for a 12 month, likely renewable, contract.

Required:

- Minimum 10 years experience in DB2 for z/OS database administration involving large 24 x 7 databases in a high volume OLTP environment.
- Thorough understanding of DB2 for z/OS internals including DB2 catalog, DB2 Logs, ZPARMS, Locks/Latches, Claims/Drains, internal structures, DB2 recovery, performance tuning, Runstats, RTS (Real Time Stats)etc.
- Expertise in using online and offline DB2 utilities (COPY, CHECK, RECOVER, RUNSTATS, REORG, UNLOAD, LOAD, DSN*)
- Strong problem diagnosis and resolution skills.
- Strong skills in logical and physical design of database objects.
- Experience in using change management tools for implementing database changes.
- Strong understanding of program development/preparation process involving Cobol-DB2-CICS application programs.
- Ability to collaborate and be a strong team player. Must possess strong verbal, written, presentation skills.

Plusses:

- Experience with CA/BMC/CDB Tools such as RC Migrator, RC Query, Insight for DB2 Monitor, Log Master, Recovery Manager, Copy PLUS, Recovery PLUS, REORG, etc.
- Ability to code programs/routines in REXX, CLIST, Cobol for automating database administration tasks
- Familiarity with Archiving data preferably using IBM InfoSphere Optim Data Growth Solution for DB2 on z/OS
- Exposure to data replication tools such as IBM InfoSphere Change Data Capture for DB2 on z/OS
- Experience with z/OS DB2 distributed components, processing, security features, etc.
- Possesses strong SQL design, development
- Familiarity with version control tools.
