LV/HV Electrical Design Engineer

LV/HV Electric Design Engineer Job Purpose We have a requirement for an Electric Utility designer to join the existing multi-utility design and bid team. The purpose of the role is to help price and design multi-utility installations to be adopted by the Asset Owner. Key Responsibilities for the role The main requirement of the role is: To work within the multi-utility design team Gas, Water and Electric, producing electric designs and quotations for contestable utility and projects in the utility sector To ensure that designs are fully compliant with host utility specifications To liaise with and incorporate customer requirements and advise on loading profiles, design layouts and delivery lead times To ensure provision of all necessary consents and associated drawings To achieve this you will: Have an understanding of LV housing connections (230/400V) Have an understanding of IDNO's Have an understanding of MV/HV connections (6.6/11kV) Have knowledge of Housing and Industrial / Commercial schemes incorporating Network Substations Produce Electric design documents incorporating design risk assessments and calculations for approval by the Asset Owner Attend site to undertake surveys Produce and mark-up drawings in AutoCAD Be commercially aware contractually regarding project variations Skills, Knowledge and Experience Essential Technical role requirements The job requires you to demonstrate: A knowledge of AutoCAD (Although this is not essential) Relevant design experience Good communication Skills A technical understanding of electrical specifications and CDM Behavioural / Leadership The role requires individuals to: Plan and organise assigned workload of his/her own portfolio of designs and site visits Ensure all assigned tasks are completed strictly in accordance with an agreed date Ensure fully compliant designs are handed over in a timely way to the relevant Lead Design Manager or Construction Engineer Continue to support the design team throughout the life of a project, particularly in the event of significant variations or the need for re-design Candidates could also come from a Building Services background eg electrician turned designer, designer with site experience, project engineer with design experience. This contract is paying between £25-35/hour depending on experience. It is also important that you can start at relatively short notice as this is an urgent role.
