Role Description

The LTE Optimization Engineer position requires proven hands on experience in optimizing the RF environment coverage and capacity through identifying root cause analysis impacting performance and user experience. The candidate should demonstrate competence in providing resolutions and recommendations to determine degradations and enhance network performance through system wide parameter optimization and feature tuning. The engineer needs to show competence in analysing and optimizing the performance from a network and system perspective as opposed to site specific view.

The ideal candidate is expected to be a self-starter, responsible, committed, and to work with integrity to meet team and individual objectives and deliverables in a timely manner.

Technical Skills

- 10+ years' experience in tuning LTE/UMTS/HSPA/CDMA/EVDO technologies
- Solid understanding of network design and optimization principles: coverage, capacity, quality
- Experience in optimizing voice and data networks of co-existing technologies
- Competence in identifying KPIs impacting service performance and reporting on them
- Vendor specific hands on experience in recommending and tuning system parameters and features: ALU and Ericsson
- Hands-on experience in using RF planning and optimization tools
- Capability to post process and analyze layer 2-3 drive test data
- Hands-on experience in using performance and configuration management tools
- Ability to utilize call trace data for optimization and troubleshooting purposes
- IP and Mobility Management experience is a plus
- Traffic engineering performance improvement and KPIs

Responsibilities & Duties

- Monitor, Analyze, trouble shoot, and optimize RF LTE network performance
- Track and report on performance of network through the use of pivot tables, performance, and configuration tools
- Capable of identifying and isolating issues that can impact overall network performance
- Candidate should demonstrate competence in grouping the tuning activities in a priority based manner and execute upon it
- Deliver a two pronged optimization plan to optimize the network through a network/system wide approach and day to day
- Work with team members to support and complement his/her efforts
- Capability on base-lining and reporting on network performance improvements
- Troubleshooting on a network element and its interfaces
- Diagnostics on interfaces to locate problems in network elements and/or plug-in units
- Perform eUTRAN internal parameter audit
- Communicate clearly both verbally and in writing to the customer

Education & Experience or Other Requirements

- Minimum Bachelor Degree in Electrical, Computer, or Telecommunications
- Hands on RF Experience for more than 10 years
- Vendor specific knowledge: Ericsson and/or ALU
- 8+ years in UMTS/HSPA/CDMA/EVDO optimization
- 4+ years in data capacity tuning and optimization
- 2+ years of LTE optimization and tuning
- Hands-on experience in problem isolation and resolution
- Proficient in MS Excel (pivot table and graphs, Macros, and data manipulation) and PowerPoint
- Solid understanding of vendor specific OSS platform for data extraction and analysis
- Result oriented with focus on product quality and customer satisfaction
- Team player, open communicator and ability to work with an international team
