LS32020 - Telecom Tech II

All candidates must be local NY residents to be considered for this position.

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

A. Assembles and mounts communications equipment, transmission and operator facilities such as data, mobile radio, carrier, microwave, video, digital and other general switching equipment.

B. Performs complex wiring operations including fanning, forming, dressing, splicing and cross connections.

C. Works from detailed engineering specifications, circuit sheets, schematic drawings, detail change sheets.

D. Performs circuit tests and clears troubles encountered in wiring or equipment.

E. Directs the efforts of other employees.

F. Keeps complete detailed written records of all work activity.

G. Moves and/or lifts up to 60 lbs.

H. Climbs ladders and works aloft using hand tools and test equipment.

I. May be required to perform additional duties and tasks as required by the Company.

Basic Qualifications

A. Ability to understand and interpret telecom color code used in copper jacketed cable.

B. Must possess a valid driver's license and have a good driving record.

C. Previous schooling in electrical or electronic field or previous experience.

D. Possession of any technical license (Federal Communications Commission General-Radiotelephone License, CCNA, etc.).

E. Knowledge of AC-DC/Digital Theory/Basic Electronics.

F. Satisfactory performance rating in present job.

G. Satisfactory attendance/punctuality record in present job.

H. Must be available to work scheduled tours designated by the needs of the business. May be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as the needs of the business necessitate.

Must be available to work throughout New York State as designated by the needs of the business

Approx 20% travel but could be to any part of New York State.for periods of time when needed
