Logistics Support Specialist Job

LOGISTICS SUPPORT SPECIALIST needed for a CONTRACT position with Yoh's client located in HOUSTON, TX

THE BIG PICTURE - TOP SKILLS YOU SHOULD POSSESS:

- Math, Accounting, Bookkeeping skills to apply to Logistics or Supply Chain
- Ability to work 12 hour shift, 4 days on, 4 days off; Night shift from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- Familiar/compliant with FDA, DOT, applicable government regulatory requirements
- Handle customer phone calls in a professional/timely manner
- Possess excellent customer service skills
- Promote teamwork between Depot Managers, Drivers and other Logistics Analysts
- Efficiently monitor, estimate, forecast customer usage rates to determine delivery requirements
- Coordinate/provide on-time deliveries; route transports (tractor/trailer) to customers assigned from specific distribution depot(s) in the most cost effective manner considering customer demand, product supply and available resources
- Adapt delivery schedule(s) in the event of problems/changed delivery requirements (day/night as needed)
- Analyze production rates versus shipment, plant vaporization rates (inventory management)
- Ability to schedule a minimum of 30 drivers/applicable equipment; 1000+ deliveries monthly
- Manage weekend/holiday schedules
- Utilize computer-based tools effectively; Bulk Distribution System (BDS), Tenor, Cadec, MapPoint, SCADA, Telemetry, etc; navigate through Oracle database, Microsoft or equivalent
- Accurately communicate scheduling/dispatch information to After Hours Desk
- Report customer delivery complaints/supply issues to scheduling supervisor, management, sales representative, other applicable group/personnel in a timely fashion
- Attend customer, depot, region sales meetings as appropriate (minimal travel expected)
- Support Supply Chain, efficiency initiatives
- Promote a zero vehicle accident/injury frequency rate
- Attend/complete all required safety training classes, online training requirements
- Report regulatory compliance issues/concerns to supervisor, HSE Specialist/Manager as needed
- Support/participate in HSEQ/RM programs/objectives established by the entity
- Continuously improve business/industry, operational efficiency, productivity, teamwork
- Maintain communication with applicable individuals, groups, entities to ensure customer requirements are met
- Ensure policies/procedures are followed, including DOT, OSHA and Current Good Manufacturing practices

- College degree preferred
- Ability to work 12 hour shift, 4 days on, 4 days off; Night shift from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am

- Understanding of information such as manpower, product supply, equipment availability, etc. as it applies to scheduling
