Logistics Planner

LOGISTICS PLANNER - SUPPLY CHAIN, SUPPLIER MANAGEMENT, LOGISTICS MANUFACTURING

A Logistics Planner with Supply Chain, Supplier Management, and Logistics Manufacturing skills/experience is required to work on a four month contract with the possibility of extension for our Defence client based in Lancashire.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our client's team within the role of Logistics Planner. As a Logistics Planner the ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting a specific area of a manufacturing production.

OVERVIEW OF THE LOGISTICS PLANNER CONTRACT ROLE

The successful candidate will be required to perform tasks suitable to the internal level of this role. The role will contain, but will not be limited to, the following;

A Manufacturing Supply Chain Planner is a Professional role across a multi programme environment. Elements of the role include:

- Order Book Management - balancing supply and demand
- Supplier Management and Order progression (Expediting)
- Shortage and exception management at point of use for all operational materials (eg - parts, tools, sundries, etc.)
- Confirming and transferring orders in to WIP
- Customer Interface (Internal and external)
- Maintain data integrity/accuracy within all relevant ERP/factory systems
- Detailed knowledge of scope of work within area of operations and understanding of planned/unplanned operations and the associated assets required
- Control of Bill of Material for area of operations
- Development of Logistics solutions in support of the smooth running of Production
- Provision of Logistics input to Change Management decisions and implementation
- Strategic Supplier relationship management
- Updating of computer systems with detail progression information
- Liaison with manufacturing supervision and craftsmen on progress of work packages
- Progression of work from internal manufacturing areas to supporting service areas
- Co-ordination of information across manufacturing and service areas

KEY SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THE LOGISTICS PLANNER

- HND standard or equivalent experience, in a Logistics manufacturing support environment
- strong communication and team working skills
- Clear understanding of Logistics practices & principles

The role is based in Lancashire - commutable from Preston, Blackpool, Chorley, Leyland, Blackburn, Darwen, Burnley, Skipton, Stockport, Manchester, Warrington, Wigan, Bolton, Bury, Rochdale and Oldham with excellent access from Liverpool, Lancaster and Leeds.
