LOCUM CHILD PSYCHIATRIST

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following key attributes. Within the context of the responsibilities described above, the ideal applicant will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

Experience and high level ability to provide contemporary psychiatric treatment across clinical programs and settings within a comprehensive integrated Child and Youth Mental Health Service.

Ability to provide clinical leadership and a demonstrated commitment to the development and delivery of quality mental health services for children, young people and their families/carers.

High level of interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with service managers and Team Leaders within a multidisciplinary team environment. Provide consultation and develop partnerships with other services caring for young people and their carers.

Commitment to the development of professional practice, knowledge of research processes, and the ability to participate in teaching and supervision of registrars, trainees and members of the mental health service team.

Knowledge of or ability to acquire knowledge of, legislation and regulations, policies and procedures that impact upon the delivery of mental health services to children, young people and their families.

Sound knowledge of contemporary human resource management issues at both the broad and specific level, with particular reference to Workplace Health and Safety, Equal Employment Opportunity and Anti-discrimination.

QUALIFICATIONS/PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATION/OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and/or registration with the professional board, including any necessary endorsements, to be provided to the employing service prior to the commencement of duty.

Possession of a recognised qualification in Psychiatry (FRANZCP or equivalent) and registered, or eligible for registration as a Specialist Psychiatrist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

Possession of the Certificate in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists or its equivalent.

This position requires the incumbent to operate a C class vehicle and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this type of vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided before commencement of duty.

This position may involve some travel via road or air to other service components.

This position is appointed to the Mental Health Service and may be required to work from a number of District Mental Health Service sites, or in a comparable mental health position. Movement through service components may be facilitated through Performance Appraisal and Development processes, or to meet service requirements following consultation with the employee.
