Linux/Unix Administrator

LINUX/UNIX ADMINISTRATOR - AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Linux/Unix Administrator to join our client based in Amsterdam on a freelance basis for initially 6-12 months. It is worth noting that there is high possibility for this position to be extended as the organisation are looking to make this a 2-year project.

Founded in 1986, this organisation is a global electronic market maker, trading on all of the world's major financial markets. They are now 750 employees strong and have offices based in Amsterdam, Sydney, Hong Kong and many more etc.

This position is paying between €60-€80 euros per hour depending on experience for the ideal candidate with at least 3+ years in System Administration or Engineering with a background in Linux or Unix.

KEY SKILLS

This candidate should have a background of working extensively with either Linux or Unix from an Administration or Engineering perspective.

The candidate will be focusing on developing the DevOps culture within this organisation, therefore many technologies related to DevOps will be required such as:

- RedHat Linux
- Solaris 8 & 10
- Debian
- Perl
- Puppet
- Chef

You should also be experienced in large business projects and data centre migrations. You should have in-depth knowledge of installing hardware and implementing both operation and Middleware systems in high available environments as this is something you will be working towards on a daily basis throughout this project.
