Linux/Ubuntu Support Engineer - 2nd Line/Second Line

Projektbeschreibung
We are currently recruiting on behalf of a major public sector organisation for a number of Second Line Linux Support Engineers to monitor and maintain live service of in-house developed systems.
The team will manage the service on a 24-hour shift pattern (4 x 12 hour shifts on, 4 days off).
Applicants MUST be able to demonstrate previous proven capability in the following areas:
-In depth knowledge of Ubuntu/Linux operating systems
-Centos
-Proactive support of Windows 2003/Windows 2008 Servers and Windows XP workstations.
- VMware server SAN support.
-Basic knowledge of Splunk. Especially the use of queries.
-Basic knowledge of Python Scripting.
-Ability to process and coordinate appropriate and timely responses to requests for information, including channelling requests for help to appropriate functions for resolution, monitoring resolution activity and keeping clients informed of progress.
-Managing and providing expert advice in a specific technical area.
-Experienced user of a Service Management workflow tool.
-Ability to work to a 12hr shift pattern.
Specific tasks include:
- Pro-active monitoring of the solution, and the initial triage of all events;
- Event Management (respond to system and service events according to Key Operating Procedures).
- Perform service Health Checks
- Incident Management
- Process Deployment Issue Resolution Requests
- Operate Accelerated Change Process (code deployment)
