Linux Systems Engineer

The position will provide support, technical guidance, lead projects and assist other teams with the systems infrastructure for daily activities. In this role you will write infrastructure code, provide systems expertise, write frameworks and resolve technology issues impacting the company.

Qualifications & Skills

- 4+ years of progressive work related experience in systems engineering including, configuration management, the Linux operating system, and virtualization
- Broad knowledge of Industry policies, products, markets, processes, technical platforms and major applications as well as an understanding of standard IT principles and practices
- Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills with ability to take highly technical information and present to management, technical staff, business/professional contacts and vendors
- Strong consulting and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated skills in diagnostics and problem solving methodologies
- Demonstrated experience in executing projects from conception through implementation

Skills and Competencies:

- Technical working knowledge of Linux operating systems (eg - CentOS, RedHat)
- Configuration management with Chef or Puppet
- Knowledge of a Scripting language, eg - Python, Perl, Ruby, Shell (bash, ksh)
- Experience in virtual systems provisioning with VMware
- Analytical and problem solving skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills for the purpose of providing information to clients, vendors, senior management and staff
- Project management experience in organizing, planning, and executing large-scale projects from conception through implementation
- Knowledge of Infrastructure platforms like VCE Vblock or NetApp FlexPod a plus

Other information:

- Position requires rotation of on-call responsibilities for 3rd level support
