Linux Systems Administrator (Contractor)

LINUX SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR, RED HAT, VIRTUALISATION, NAS/SAN STORAGE, NETWORKING

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

- BS IN COMPUTER SCIENCE or equivalent with 4-5+ YEARS\' EXPERIENCE IN A SIMILAR ROLE
- Solid understanding of networking and distributed computing, network file systems (NFS), automounter, LDAP, DNS, Sendmail and TCP/IP (NETWORKING), Solid Understanding and Management of NAS/SAN Storage technologies in particular Network Appliances Storage Devices and Data Ontap
- SOLID UNDERSTANDING OF LINUX RED HAT (RHEL 5/6)
- Experience in development, management and support of VMWARE INSTALLATIONS and VSphere PowerCLI programming
- Hands-on experience performing OS AND VSPHERE installations development, Installation and management of Apache webservers
- Knowledge of programming languages such as; JAVA, PHP, PYTHON, JAVASCRIPT, PERL, C, C++, VSPHERE POWERCLI
- Strong customer service skills, communication skills, and a positive attitude
- Attention to detail, comprehensive problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and within time constraints
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work
- Ability to work equally well as part of a team or independently

THE ROLE:

We are seeking an experienced and talented individual with experience in developing and maintaining UNIX/LINUX (Red Hat RHEL 5.x/6.x) and VIRTUALISATION (VMWARE/VSphere) environments. This position is part of an existing team of administrators supporting Design/CAD engineering utilizing UNIX/Linux and distributed applications in a large 600+ Workstation WAN and 100+ Servers. The desired candidate should be comfortable doing a significant amount of programming in PERL, PHP, JAVASCRIPT, PYTHON, SHELL SCRIPTING AND VSPHERE POWERCLI.

This is a contract role for a period of 6 months with a view to extension.
