Linux System Engineer

The team is responsible for the hardware and OS platform that is used to support the our large enterprise client's advertising analytics infrastructure. This includes qualifying both new software and new hardware. The team is also responsible for automating the qualification of this platform and releasing the platform to production.

We are seeking a talented and highly motivated System Engineer to join the team. The responsibilities include building test capacity, running qualifications and deploying the platform to production. We are looking for someone who is good at system level Scripting to help automate these tasks. We want someone who understands how to scale fleets as well as dive deep into troubleshooting problems that arise.

The advertising analytics platform is based on a large-scale Apache Hadoop cluster. Most of the support tools are written in Python.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- BS in Computer Science or related discipline
- At least 7 years of industry experience, with at least 5 years focused on Linux
- Proficiency in using the typical Linux toolbox of open source software and management tools
- Scripting proficiency with various shells and Python
- Local candidates only

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 10+ years of industry experience focused on Linux including both software development and system administration
- Proficient with Python and familiar with Java
- Solid understanding of Linux
- Experience maintaining open source packages and/or working with the open source community
- Experience packaging software with RPM
- Experience maintaining large scale Linux implementations
- Experience with Apache Hadoop preferred
- Experience with very large databases (SQL and NoSQL) preferred

THIS IS A 6 MONTH CONTRACT POSITION WITH POSSIBILITY OF CONVERSION TO DIRECT FULL TIME EMPLOYMENT.
