Linux Support / Linux Support Specialist

My London based client, urgently seeks a Linux Support Specialist based on a 6 months contract. The Linux Support Specialist (Linux Servers, Active Director, Shell Scripting, Linux Desktops) post holder will provide IT support to academic staff across the organisation.

To succeed in this Linux Support Specialist (Linux Servers, Active Director, Shell Scripting, Linux Desktops) your main responsibilities will be:

- an excellent knowledge of desktop applications running on Debian Linux platform
- skills to maintain and administer Debian based Linux desktops and servers
- ability to use shell scripting within a Linux environment
- ability to provide first and second line technical and user support for Linux users
- technical IT issues to users of varying skills and backgrounds
- demonstrable skills for integrating Linux systems with a Microsoft infrastructure based on Active Directory
- excellent communication skills and be able promote team-working as well explaining complex
- a logical approach to diagnosing, troubleshooting and resolving problems
