Linux Support Engineer | Level 2/3 | Contract Role

THE COMPANY:

Our client is a technology leader that is government funded. In addition to this they have the support and funding of the Territory Governments also.

THE ROLE:

Our client is seeking a Linux Engineer who can take responsibility for the Back End operational support and maintenance of the existing infrastructure and systems and ultimately ensure that access remains efficient and uninterrupted.

OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

- Administer and support Linux server infrastructure to maintain best practices for the rapid deployment, stability and performance of Linux Servers.
- Administer and support Microsoft server technologies. This includes Microsoft Active Directory, MS Server, Exchange, Sharepoint and SQL Server.
- Support and Administration of Infrastructure including Blade, Servers (Physical & Virtualised), Storage/SAN's etc
- Support and Administration of virtualised environments via close monitoring and configuration using standard methods and procedures ensuring overall system stability, performance and recoverability
- Provide technical support to relevant users of video, telephone and web conferencing facilities to enable required communications.
- Actively monitor IT infrastructure and investigate and remediate any issues that are identified with the assistance of the appropriate team/vendor members providing proactive support service.

THE REQUIREMENTS:

Our client is seeking a Engineer with recent experience working with Linux and is in potentially in the process or has recently attained a RedHat Certification. This role is going to sit within the existing team and initially helping the team to get through a backlog of 2nd & 3rd Line Issues.

OTHER IDEAL REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:

- Degree qualifications in IT or equivalent
- Experience in a support environment and ability to communicate with non-technical staff
- Proactively support a variety of users and systems in a busy environment
- Recent and indepth Linux experience
- Previous experience working in a Wintel Environment
- Experience with Virtualisation, Backup and Storage Technologies a distinct advantage also.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and harmoniously in a small, close-knit team
