Linux Specialist for Scientific Applications (HPC/HTC, CSV, ITIL, Stor

Our client, a major Pharma global player is currently looking for a SCIENTIFIC APPLICATION/LINUX INFRASTRUCTURE SPECIALIST for a 5 months contract in Basel.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Assist on the delivery of the technical operations linux application environment and new HPC infrastructure and evolution of the current environments.
- Ensures installation, configuration and operation of the environments to achieve the performance of the scientific applications supported.
- Manage scientific application and data analysis tool set build/installation/configuration/maintenance/tuning.
- Contribute to HPC/HTC workflow and job submission optimization activities
- Contributes to the concept, planning and execution of projects.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

- 5 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH LINUX/HPC ENVIRONMENTS
- Experience of Linux build and packaging tools (Make, CMake, Easybuild, RPM, Yum)
- Scripting: Shell, python, Perl
- Experience with Parallel Filesystem (eg Lustre, GPFS) and Scale-out NAS (eg Isilon)
- DevOPS approach: configuration management (eg Bright, xcat, puppet), automated build/release test & deployment (eg jenkins, git)
- Workload management (eg SLURM, Torque, LSF)
- Big Data frameworks (eg Hadoop, Mapreduce, Spark)
- Monitoring tools/frameworks (eg nagios, ganglia, elk)
- Programming skills in high level languages such as Java or C++ are a plus
- Virtualization and containerisation awareness
