Linux Specialist

My Dutch based client has a requirement for a Linux Specialist for an initial 4 month contract to the end of April 2013 but with the possibility for further extensions.

The environment currently consists of approximately 400 server installations divided between Linux virtual Servers on VMware hosted on IBM xSeries, AIX on IBM POWER, Linux virtual Servers on Xen hosted on IBM xSeries and z/Linux running under zVM hosted on IBM zSeries. Currently a project migrating a mission critical system from Mainframe architecture to Linux based Servers is on-going.

This project needs special support with expert knowledge of the Linux operating system (in particular SuSE Linux Enterprise Server distribution), corosync, pacemaker and OCFS2. The role will encompass providing support and advise to the project team in all areas of the interaction between the application and the operating system, Kernel debugging capabilities, performance analysis capabilities, hardware architecture knowledge and problem solving.

Applicants will have in depth knowledge of Linux (SuSE Linux Enterprise Server), corosync, pacemaker and OCFS2 and proven experience in performance analysis and analysing core dumps. In addition any Scripting experience (ksh or Perl) would also be beneficial.
