Linux/SMTP Administrator

My client is seeking an experienced Linux/SMTP Administrator for an initial 6 month contract starting as of 01/01/2014 with the prospect of an additional 18 months work.

DUTIES

Under the supervision of the Messaging Unit's Head, the SMTP administrator will

- Act as a subject matter expert and advisor on best practices and efficient solutions supporting the SMTP relay environment based on Postini, Postfix, and Sendmail.
- Provide input on the design and support the SMTP relay infrastructure configuration, administration and installation (when applicable).
- Perform messaging systems administration, maintenance and standards implementation.
- Monitor messaging systems to facilitate proper performance and performs diagnostics as needed.
- Help formulate a plan of actions for systems that fall out of the appropriate operating guidelines.
- Create documentation and develop training plans for end users and other support teams for Messaging solutions.
- Evaluate and recommend upgrades or enhances to the current messaging environment consisting of but not limited to Postfix, Sendmail, and Postini.

EXPERIENCE

- Five years of technical experience working with messaging systems running on Linux/Unix.
- Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix systems administration, including Shell Scripting (Redhat preferred).
- Strong knowledge of Postfix and Sendmail.
- Experience working with messaging perimeter security systems on the cloud, Postini preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Nagios and Nagvis
- Experience working with Ext JS and Database systems on Linux/Unix.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written form.
- Ability to write reports, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from a wide variety of audiences.
- Excellent problem solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize work and work with minimum supervision .
