Linux Platform Engineer - RHEL - 6 Month Contract

THE CLIENT:

Our client is a leading global brand with clients across a range of industries. Due to a recent business win, they are seeking a Linux Platform Engineer to join an existing team onsite.

THE ROLE:

In this role you will be responsible for the management and support of a range of server related components that will include Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Virtualisation (VMware) and Storage (HDS).

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

- Management and prioritising of escalated incidents and providing 2nd and 3rd line support whilst maintaining accountability through to resolution.
- Managing and supporting the existing RHEL server environment
- Managing existing storage environment
- Involvement in projects from design through to rollout.
- Managing a range of components including Packaging, Patching, Scripting and Storage.

THE REQUIREMENTS:

Our client is seeking an all-rounder with a number of years experience in a RHEL server environment. They also must be self managed, take initiative and be a keen team player. They value communication and team work as keen requirements in this role, so the ability to work with others in essential in what is a pivotal role for the team.

OTHER KEY REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:

- Extensive experience in RHEL, RedHat Packaging, Satellite Server Maintenance and Patching
- Experience in Linux Scripting languages is important also
- DNS and DHCP are also essential
- Vmware v4/5 experience is a key requirement also.

Outside of this any experience working with the following technologies are seen as an advantage, though not a necessity.

- Windows Server 200x
- Active Directory, Exchange
- Blackberry Enterprise Server
- Cisco
- SAN Storage Technologies
- Citrix

This is a 6 Month Contract role with the view to extend and the opportunity to work in a medium sized IT Department with a broad range of stakeholders and ongoing projects. Daily rate is commensurate with experience but is competitive.
