Linux GUI Software Engineer

Salary £32 - £36 Per Hour

My Birmingham based client is currently looking for a creative and experienced Linux GUI Software Engineer to develop the next generation of a core Stratus software product. The ideal candidate shall preferably be from an Engineering background familiar with the demands placed on software by production environments where robustness and up-time are key.

Candidates must have the following industrial experience:

- GTK+ Programming, creating intuitive graphical user interfaces using GTK+
- X Windows configuration procedures / processes (auto configuration for a multitude of hardware graphic chipsets)
- Keyboard / Mouse / Touch Screen event handling experience
- Extensive experience in Software Development using the 'C' programming language

Experience in the following areas would also be beneficial:

- Linux Kernel configuration / building and installation (especially with regards to graphics subsystem components)
- Inter process communication knowledge (Concurrent Process IPC)
- Networking / low level TCP Communications
- Knowledge / understanding of the Gentoo Linux distribution would also be advantageous
