Linux Engineer (Redhat, Bash Scripting, Data Migration)

Job Purpose:  

Responsible for build, deployment and configuration management of Enterprise Applications to both pre-production and production environments initially focussing on eCommerce platforms.

This particular role will be supporting our client's data migration project. Primary skills required will be RedHat Linux and bash Shell Scripting. We will also need a working knowledge of Subversion, Perl and Oracle SQL.

Principal Accountabilities

Responsible for all eCommerce pre-production and some production sites for application build and deployment of patches and releases

Responsible for managing software configuration for all production, pre-production and continuous integration environments across multiple regions including version control of all configuration items

Automation of build and release processes in mixed Client Server environment

Ensure high quality documentation for all release and configuration activity is developed and maintained

Responsible for the day-to-day operations, maintenance, support and troubleshooting of Web pre-production sites

Monitoring for Pre-Production environment availability

Act as a technical resource and point of contact for the business in technical matters including providing timely, quality estimates for project work

Responsible for provisioning virtualized development environments for development teams.

Responsible for development/maintenance of marketing content deployment system for all pre-production and production environments.

Skills

Technical experience of building and deploying applications using tools such as Subversion, Jenkins, Maven and Ant following Version Control/Continuous Integration/Configuration Management best practices

Demonstrable practical experience of working in a Unix/Linux environment including system administration and Scripting - bash, python/jython, Perl, and AWK

Ability to prioritise own workload and manage time effectively according to Business needs

Excellent written and verbal communication skills especially around documentation and stake holder management
