Principle Job Duties and Responsibilities

Candidates should have a deep experience-based knowledge of Linux systems within a data centre environment, gained through genuine involvement in the migration data analysis and management of large scale, complex, multi-technology projects.

The Systems Engineer Linux will be assisting various internal functions with the following deliverables:
Detailed design of the system within Data Centre environments
Deployment plans and techniques
They will be able to engage effectively with a wide variety of individuals, both within a project team, and with various customer technical functions. Candidates should be able to demonstrate a proven capability to perform under tight deadlines and being able to withstand pressure. High level of motivation and passion about technology is a must.

Technical Skills and Training
Advanced understanding of complex IT systems involving clouding and dynamic services solutions
Will come from a Telecommunications or Data Centre environment and must have end-to-end projects experience
Initiating and managing data sources to be migrated across most confidential systems
Creating technical database design documentation according to the standards

Skills/knowledge:
Ø Operating System and Database upgrades
Ø Virtualisation of infrastructure
Ø Multiple migration customers
Ø IRM/compliance projects
Ø Dynamic Citrix Base Service (DCBS)
Ø Dynamic Computing Services (DCS)
Ø VMWare
Ø Netapp
Ø VLans
Ø Linux
Develop KPI reporting and tracking for all system migrations
Managing technical engagement and working with DBAs to understand and map existing data sources to target source
Engagement of supplier to leverage existing capabilities to undertake data migrations into secure cell data centre
Facilitate the comprehensive collection of data migration requirements through, workshops, discussions or otherwise with existing functional project teams and subject matter experts
Review, assess & advise on project changes where they impact agreed requirements, data model or data standards
Identification of data exceptions preventing migration, and actions to be taken for each type of exception

Business Skills and Training
Candidates must have experience in operating in a large organisation involving management of outsourced infrastructure hosting provider and complex business/stakeholder environment
Excellent skills in data modelling and requirements analysis, validation & documentation skills
Systems analysis and management skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
Ability to read and understand standard business and technical design and requirements documentation
Adaptability and flexibility to handle ambiguous conditions and changing priorities
Proven ability to work on under tight schedules and great pressure
Strong cognitive skills
Ability to work independently, take initiative and be flexible
Identify and report problems in a timely manner
Adaptability and flexibility to handle ambiguous conditions and changing priorities
Task-oriented and results-driven character
