Linux Engineer

A new role has arisen for an experienced Hardware Integration Engineer to join a Leading IT service provider.

The role requires the suitable applicant to have a hybrid skill set focused around Networking (CCNA or CCNP) and Linux (Redhat) Administration. Experience in custom configuration within a high availability environment is essential.

The Hardware Integration Engineer is a key member of the Hardware Deployment

- Revise solution architecture drawings, diagrams and Bill of Materials, including system interfaces.
- Create and/or update hardware integration engineer contributions to the Solution Specification and Design documentation, Hardware Acceptance Test Procedures, and other associated hardware integration documents and CDRLs.
- Define equipment configuration within the Real Time environment and coordinate with Hardware Deployment and Integration management.
- Load, configure, validate, and hand over equipment to Software Integration on customer sites and in factory.
- Support configuration changes to system platforms in factory and customer sites.
- Attend Design Reviews with customers.
- Provide customer training and Identify risks at solution architecture level and propose where possible alternate validated solutions.
- Provide system and networking expertise useful in the design.
- Follow and contribute to the development and enhancement of engineering processes

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

- CCNA or CCNP Certification is mandatory
- Linux (Redhat) experience is essential, including Kernel configuration, driver packages, performance tuning and automation.
- Scripting (TCL/TK, Perl, & Shell)
- Familiarity with a wide range of computer and networking hardware (preferably HP & Cisco).
- Experience in large and distributed networked computer systems
