Linux Desktop/Administrator

Yoh has a contract opportunity for a LINUX DESKTOP/ADMINISTRATOR to join our client in San Jose, CA.

Job Overview:

- As a Desktop Administrator, you must be responsive, flexible and able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Build and provide basic end user troubleshooting and desktop support on Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X systems.
- Corporate Linux and Windows systems administration.
- Creation of end user self-service tools and documentation.
- Automate and optimize existing processes and scripts.
- Technical project planning and execution.
- Resolve trouble tickets and provide on-call support for critical issues.
- Partner with Amazon.com infrastructure teams to meet shared goals.
- Understanding of VPNs and Firewalls.
- Understanding of network protocols and architecture (TCP/IP, ATM, WAN, Bridges, etc).
- Experience deploying remote operating systems and applications.

Job Qualifications:

- At least two (2) years of experience supporting Linux.
- At least three (3) years of system administration and systems engineering experience (strong Mac OS X and Linux skills are a big plus).
- Experience with two (2) or more of the following is required: email software (postfix, POP, IMAP, Exchange, mailman).
- Strong leadership skills, a proactive attitude, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Successful track record of driving projects to completion.
