Linux and Windows Server Support Technician

For this position with a world-renowned computer manufacturing company, you will be performing a wide variety of server support activities in a large-scale, high-performance data center environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

- Analyzing desktops, hardware, software, and operating systems
- Performing backups, archives, and recoveries
- Building machines from scripted images
- Identifying, diagnosing, and resolving issues
- Creating/maintaining documentation
- Working with vendors for warranty issues
- Providing support in a standalone environment

REQUIREMENTS:

- Primary job role is providing Unix/Linux server break-fix administration within a data center/lab type environment
- 5+ years server and desktop support experience required - supporting both hardware and software, system administration and back-up in a mixed environment
- Experience with ESXi Servers (VMWARE)
- Experience providing remote support of Unix Servers
- 2-3 years of Data Center/Lab experience nice to have
- Backup and Tape management functions
- Basic Scripting knowledge in support of existing scripts (or for writing simple Shell Scripts for routine Unix/Linux work)
- OS builds for lab systems (Linux and Windows)
- Land/Decommission and Refreshing of lab systems
- Updating and creating DNS addresses by submitting the proper service desk tickets when landing new systems
- Ability to perform proactive break-fix walk-throughs of the data center
- Ability to provide lead and escalation support to level 2-3's
