Title: Linux Admin

Location: Columbia, SC

Duration: 6 months +

TECHINCAL BACKGROUND:
Candidates must have current knowledge of Linux systems 
AIX & SUN knowledge desired 
The holder of this position will work with a team of engineers who work with all three operating systems
Must be able to function well as part of team 
Must work well in a complex, matrixed environment

DESIRED SKILLS: 
Ability to identify and patch application software - Oracle, WebSphere, SNA, ConnectDirect, Weblogic, DB2 
Exposure to Kickstart 
Experience with replacement of user serviceable hardware components 
Familiarity with TSM and TDP backup/restore/configuration from a client perspective

HOURS:
Candidates must be able to work a flexible schedule. May be required to work Sunday through Thursday and overtime when needed. If required, can get to the office within 1 hour of being called.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Correct technical problems within defined SLAs. Analyze root cause and permanently correct. Document incidents
Perform server checks prior to server deployment to the network
Configure and maintain server systems using industry best practices
Secure Servers
Monitor server performance
Replace hardware as needed
Minimize risk to the business by monitoring potential hardware failures and employing appropriate mitigation
Ensure Servers are backed up according to business needs
Devise and implement solutions to automate manual processes
Have knowledge and experience in Scripting in all Unix environments
Follow defined change management process
Transfer technical knowledge to others

Server related experience-Required-8yrs
Solaris 9 and 10 administration and patching- Desired- 4 years
RedHat Linux administration and patching-Required-4 years
AIX administration and patching-Desired- 4 years
Large IT shop experience-Required-4 years
SAN Multipathing Required-3 years
Power Hardware -Desired-4 years
LVM-Required-4 years
Knowledge of security scanning & remediation tools - SRR, Nesses, Retina-Highly desired-4 years
Proficient in Scripting-Required-4 years
SPARC & X86-Nice to have -3 years
Power VM setup, administration, capacity management-Nice to have-4 years
Bachlor Degree OR 4 years combined education & work experience OR extra 4 years related work experience-Required
High School diploma or equivalent-Required
