This role has been released on a temporary basis initially for 8-10 weeks you will be responsible for licencing relevant businesses and ensure compliance with the terms of the licence and relevant legislation.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES OF JOB:

* To be responsible, as directed, for processing and the regulation of licensing applications, permits and consents primarily in relation to Alcohol, Gambling, Special Treatments and Animal Health together with other licensing functions of the Service.
* Have a competent working knowledge of the Service's licensing IT application..
* Ensure that Licensing records and databases, for premises and service requests are maintained daily by the input of accurate data as required.
* In accordance with the annual service plan, carry out inspections and investigate complaints both during and outside normal working hours to ensure compliance with licensing and safety legislative requirements and licence conditions, including where appropriate conformity with technical standards.
* Assist in the preparation of reports to Committee and sub-Committee, making recommendations where appropriate, attending and presenting such committees as required both during and outside of normal office hours.
* Prepare and serve notices / letters and prepare reports for legal action and if necessary attend court to give evidence concerning breaches of licensing legislation or in response to appeals,
* In accordance with the annual service plan carry out late night monitoring, including between the hours of 11 p.m. and 4 a.m, to establish locations where licensing objectives may not be being promoted and provide reports recommending action.
* Where empowered to do so, assess premises for the imposition of licensing conditions and to make recommendations regarding appropriate conditions.
* Assist the Environmental Health Manager in the preparation of action plans when required to address public nuisance or public safety concerns.

You should match the following criteria:

* Licensing qualification
* Health & Safety Qualification
* significant experience in Licensing in a Local Authority environment.
* Inspection of business premises
* Enforcement of licensing and safety standards
* Advising on and enforcing Health & Safety legislation in Licensed Premises
* Undertake out-of-hours inspections of licensed premises on a regular basis
* Carry out investigations late at night
* Advise businesses and the general public on procedures etc
* Drive, have a clean full driving licence and access to a car
