Backstage Library Works is seeking qualified individuals for the positions of

Reclassification and RFID Technicians

This is a Full time position, including paid holidays and paid time off. This position pays £6.75/hour.  Technicians will be updating 32,000 items at the University College of London's (UCL) Bartlett Library to RFID* tags (*Radio-Frequency Identification Tags), and applying new call number labels to them after.  This project has a maximum length of one and a half months, from early August to the end of September of 2014, and will require a background check.

Responsibilities - RFID

- Learn to use high-end RFID equipment to update the online catalog for their new radio tags.
- Ensure that each batch of items you are assigned during the day has an RFID tag affixed in the proper location.
- Handle materials in accordance with guidelines for handling
- Operate equipment in accordance with approved procedures and profiles

Responsibilities - Reclassification

- Applying the CORRECT labels to books using specific match criteria
- Tracking books that have been labeled using Database Management software
- Tracking books that do not match certain criteria on our labels
- Flagging items that are not ready for labeling; separating these items into categories for which they cannot be labeled
- Shelving books in the CORRECT order, according to the Library of Congress Classification system
- Shifting books to correct sections of the library or collection

Preferred Additional Skills:

Experience working in a library environment.
