Lead Transition Architect/Senior Solutions Architect

Central Goverment Client require a Senior Solution Architect. You will have the responsibility for leading a large programme throughout planning and delivery phases of a re-procurement of national system/service components. Specifically focused on: Transition Requirements; Notice; Architectural Approach; Change Control Process; Transition Approach; Product Definitions; Tooling; Develop and Implement Data Migration

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

- Solution Architecture; Specialist Advice; Requirements definition; Architecture Definition; Transition Solutions; Assurance of supplier solutions; Supplier Liaison; Leadership; People Management; Analytical Thinking; Stakeholder Management; Commercial Orientation.
- Knowledge and Experience - Extensive, proven experience of working on large scale complex transition programmes providing detailed advice regarding application and experience of executing transition tasks. Experience of working in a large, complex multi-discipline organisation. Demonstrable experience of gathering business requirements and working with diverse senior stakeholder.
- Skills - Communication - Ability to translate complex technical problems both verbally and in written form to a range of business and technical audiences, including senior management and novice users, to support a wider understanding of key issues. Ability to negotiate and influence at all levels of seniority, including engagement in difficult decisions. Teamwork Proven ability to establish effective working relationship with colleagues at all levels. Experience of adapting the leadership style to get the best out of others and an understanding of how to recognise potential in others. Proven track record for ownership and completion of tasks and self-management of parallel activities.

OUTPUTS/DELIVERABLES TO BE ACHIEVED

- Demonstrable experience is required showing experience across a broad range of open source community technologies (inc. Tornado, RIAK, RabbitMQ, NGINX), COTS products (inc. Oracle RDBMS, Sarvega XML Appliances), development languages, agile development techniques.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

- Provide strategic IT guidance to senior internal and external IT and business staff
- Demonstrating TDA or EA responsibility for large programmes of work with specific focus on transition over a sustained period of time
- Experience in developing technology roadmaps for complex problem areas.
- Lead role in a major transformation programme for a large corporate or public sector organisation. Identifying technology impacts in the transformation and establishing roadmaps for transition to the future state.
- Worked on the construction and delivery of a major Information Architecture initiative. Offering advice and guidance to a range of stakeholders and identifying innovative ways of collecting, storing and distributing data to internal and external stakeholders.
- experience and background to quickly gain the respect of technical teams and stakeholders. Management of a technical team for a period of over 2 years, working across a number of project or programme areas.
- Leadership & facilitation - willing and able to take on both a practical and thought leadership role within large teams (10 -50 people)
- Project management - able to plan - Very Large Scale Systems design & integration - Large scale transition projects in complex environments - Large scale database design - Enterprise architecture - Testing strategy - Web technologies (eg web services, XML, SOAP, WSDL ) - Messaging and Datamodelling - System security - National/Public sector standards (eg eGIF)

Formal Qualifications Required

- Essential: Educated to degree level in Information Technology or related discipline and or relevant suitable experience
- Desirable: TOGAF
