THE ROLE
The Application Development architect is responsible for driving design choices regarding Application Development platform, tools, infrastructure and methodology. You will ensure that the Application development platform allow new applications to meet business objectives.
You will oversee the implementation projects resulting from such choices.
You develop and enforce the use of Application Development Best Practices. As such, you help in the development and successful DELIVERY of PROJECTS
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify/Formalize the organization's needs in terms of Software Application functionalities, Performance and Maintainability, and ensure the Application Development (AD) platform and processes allow to meet them .
- Lead the design of the AD Framework. Review existing Development Platform and Processes and identify necessary changes to apply to meet above requirements.
- Be involved in ARCHITECTURE design for new products/functionality in order to define the appropriate technology to use
- Define and maintain software application development best practices in the company, puts in place the appropriate processes and tools to ensure that such best practices are enforced
- Work closely with developers, especially in our offshore development center in India to help them to deliver solutions and applications
- Initiate and Oversee the CMMI certification program in progress in India
- Perform solution audit and ensure compatibility with PERFORMANCE requirements
- Suggest development TOOLS, solution architecture and METHODOLOGY, so all meet the requirements
- Deal with problems as they arise and produce progress reports
- Implement and maintain TESTING tools and procedures to make sure solution meets requirements
- Make sure that applications and solution meet QUALITY standards and procedures
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Strong experience constructing large scale applications in Microsoft .NET, Oracle technologies. Knowledge of open source standards is a plus
- Have a solid background in systems development, analysis, programming and testing
- Good knowledge of CMMI approach and requirements
- Capable of communicating regularly and persuasively to broad and diverse groups of competencies and specialties
- Have strong knowledge of organization's Business Models, PRACTICES & PROCESSES and IT Landscapes
- Experience setting the application development DIRECTION for teams, evaluating options, making decisions, and evaluating RESULTS
- Experience with enterprise-scale development methodologies and their optimization
- Presentation skills and Interpersonal skills are a must
- Strong organizational skills, business thinking and RESULT oriented
- Work well under pressure, as part of a TEAM and independently
- Have high STANDARDS of PERFORMANCE
