My client a well known managed service company are seeking an experienced Lead Engineer to manager a small to medium sized team of deployment engineers.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

- Remove the Windows XP operating system from the NAB environment by replacing it with Windows 7
- Manage the deployment of Windows 7 to in scope end points (virtual and physical) across NAB (approximately 40,000)
- Deployment of agreed tactical Windows 7 configurations prior to the full Windows 7 service being available to enable NAB to mitigate the risk and cost of XP going out of mainstream support

THE KEY DELIVERABLES FOR THIS ROLE ARE:

- Manage a small team of on-site engineers responsible for migration of users to Windows 7 and post deployment.
- Overall responsibility for maintaining quality standards for each deployment, including post deployment quality checks.
- Complete pre-deployment floor walks to confirm user readiness, special access requirements
- Previously unidentified software or hardware dependencies.
- Ownership of the technical deployment process, including testing and refining process and related deployment documentation
- Work with Technical Lead to develop and publish migration workbook instructions for engineers
- Training and support of Windows engineers in migration and post deployment support process Pre-migration liaison with end users to confirm deployment, including final validation.
- Assist users with back-up of locally stored business data prior to migration
- Migrate user's PC from existing OS to Windows 7 SOE, including installation of required applications
- Provide Day One "floorwalker" support
- Create and maintain log of outstanding day one issues, and record in appropriate NAB systems
- Assist with training of and post deployment handover to local IT support team
- Level one and two Incident and Problem management
- Identify and record potential project issues and risks
- Manage handover to post migration support manager

KEY SKILLS REQUIRED:

- Previous experience managing teams of 10 to 20 employees.
- Strong Windows 7 Deployment knowledge
- Experience Migrate user's PC from existing OS to Windows 7 SOE, including installation of required applications
- Experience working in a Large Enterprise Environment
