My client, a leading automotive manufacturer based in Gaydon, Warwickshire, is looking to recruit a Lead Engineer for their Chassis Engineering division on a long term contract basis.

Position Description:
Reporting to the Group Leader, Modulation & System Delivery, the Lead Engineer is responsible for the delivery (from PS to Job 1 + 90 days) of Stability Control Systems (SCS) Modulators and software releases for a single Platform. In this role the candidate will work closely with one of the preferred system suppliers, Chassis Electronics, SCS Applications, SCS Functions, Purchase and Vehicle Programme Teams. This will be delivered by chairing and managing the routine Module Business Team meetings and ensuring alignment between Brakes, Chassis Electrical and the supplier teams. The Lead Engineer will be accountable for design and delivery of these systems which need to meet class leading attribute targets including NVH, performance and durability whilst achieving. Best In Class quality and meeting cost, weight, financial and programme timing targets.

Skills Required:
An experienced engineer in Automotive, Electrical or Aeronautical field with: Experience of new model activities concept to launch environment preferably having delivered systems with a high level of complexity and interfaces. Experience of Project Management of complex multi-disciplinary projects. High drive, self-motivated and flexible. Strong systems engineering background Strong team player with a successful track record in team leadership and organisation. Ability to delegate tasks to team members and maintain strong working relationships within the business. Enthusiasm for task, strong drive and high motivation and largely self-sufficient - able to deliver with minimum supervision. Ability to work at a fast pace and deliver. First time through results. Ability to negotiate technical solutions within a multi-disciplinary and geographically spread team. Ability to manage conflict and balance opposing programme demands. Strong influencing, communication and presentation skills will be required to negotiate solutions and to report out regularly to all levels of the business and supply base. Understanding of automotive Chassis, Braking systems & Stability Control Systems. Thorough knowledge of basic quality engineering tools including FMEA and robust application of Lessons Learned from previous programmes. Flexible approach and able to work away from home and beyond normal hours when required High level user of the MS Office suite of software. UK Driving Licence for Cat B vehicles Key Word Search Criteria: Programme Management.

Skills Preferred:
Driver training to Class 3. On Road and PG3 would be an advantage.

Experience Required:
Engineering complex mechanical or electro-mechanical systems. Ability to demonstrate a successful track record in the management of complex projects making use of Project Management software eg MS Project Experience in the use of a Gateway based new model introduction system. Experience of solving complex technical issues Experience in the application FMEA.

Experience Preferred:
Experience in and confident with the application of GPDS, DVP and Gateway disciplines. Experience of solving complex technical issues using Design for Six Sigma or 8D methodologies Experience in the application of quality tools.

Education Required:
Education in Mechanical, Automotive or an appropriate Electrical Engineering discipline.

Education Preferred:
Degree in Mechanical, Automotive or an appropriate Electrical Engineering discipline

Additional Information:
The role will be based at Gaydon but travel to other locations, including manufacturing plants and suppliers will be required from time to time.
