L3 Lead Engineer

The roles would need to give technical direction to the existing staff and in some cases actually perform the activity of network and server engineers in the two countries. The On-Site Lead Technical Engineers are to progressively document and take over the management of the IT Infrastructure to facilitate a transparent handover to the HCL Infrastructure support and management processes.

The engineers are charged with installing, supporting, and maintaining the infrastructure and operational services, and are responsible for planning and responding to service requests, outages and other problems.

This would include:

- Granting and removing Skandia Vita/Link network access using Active Directory (Network user administration)
- Managing the physical network directly and via 3rd party service providers
- Managing user incidents & requests relating to the infrastructure
- Maintaining and monitoring IT systems
- Procurement of hardware & software
- Building and configuring Servers
- Managing 3rd party links
- Installing software, updating patches, firmware
- Doing backups & restores (creating backup plan)
- Manage file storage
- Manage and update policies
- Managing maintenance renewals, warranty, refresh, etc.
- Apart from being involved and directing the normal technical roles of a IT Operations systems administrator, what we are looking for is given in the more detailed explanation below:

Specific expected activities:

- Assist discovery
- Fully document systems - configuration, architecture, start-up & shut down procedures, processes, contacts (for call logging support)
- Asset management review - hardware, software, licence keys (on-site & off-site), etc.
- Backup monitor capacity (disks, RAM, cpu, networks, etc.), reporting,
- Assist with prioritisation of NEXUS activities
- Systems analysis and solutions design for projects run in parallel with NEXUS and bring into NEXUS
- Take-on: change control, patch management process, logical security, VPN migration, Internet browsing (PC & office), security baselines
- Call logging
- Address DR requirements

The key to the success of the On-Site resource provision would be their ability to provide technical direction, perform the systems analysis and support design activities, and close the resource risk gap by absorbing and documenting as much as possible in the shortest possible time-frames.

Office Hours

- The office hours are the local CE Business Office hours in Italy and France.
- 9:00 till 17:30 CET Monday to Thursday
- 9:00 till 17:00 CET Friday
- No overtime is permitted unless terms agreed upfront and overtime authorised in writing prior to it being worked.

Bank Holidays

- Bank holidays that apply are those that occur in Italy and France.

Language requirements

- Fluency in speaking, reading and writing in the local language and English are absolute requirements. Technical reading and writing ability is a requirement for local language and English.
