Lead Engineer - Maritime Instrumentation Radar

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The purpose of this role is to provide the Radar/RF System and hardware expertise and technical lead on equipment being upgraded;

The successful candidate will be an experienced Radar/RF systems engineer with a hardware background able to act as the lead engineer and design authority. This will involve driving the projects' technical and engineering activities through the whole engineering life cycle from requirement specification and system architecting, through design and development to integration, delivery and acceptance. The candidate will also be expected to operate as a 'hands-on' engineer, being actively involved in the system engineering activities across the life cycle ie producing requirements, developing and 'owning' the high level design and even defining the testing strategy and specifications.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
*Experienced Radar/RF systems engineer with a hardware background
*Recent experience of architectural design, sub-system design and specification, cost estimating, implementation, text and acceptance of radar type equipment
*Ability and willingness to be 'hands-on' with system engineering tasks as part of the project (ie produce requirements, high level design and test specifications), especially in smaller or less complex projects;
*Ability to decompose complex issues to an appropriate level of detail, in a methodical manner;
*Ability to act as the System Design Authority for a project/equipment;
*Appreciation of diverse technologies;
*Good written and verbal communication skills
