Lead Engineer

My client a well known managed service company is currently seeking an experienced Lead Engineer to manage a small team and drive a complex Windows 7 Deployment Project. The role requires you to work across several sites within Melbourne's CBD and when required there will be a requirement for interstate travel.

THE KEY DELIVERABLES FOR THIS ROLE ARE:

- Manage a small team of on-site engineers responsible for migration of users to Windows 7 and post deployment technical and training support
- Complete pre-deployment floor walks to confirm user readiness, special access requirements and previously unidentified software or hardware dependencies.
- Ownership of the technical deployment process, including testing and refining process and related deployment documentation
- Work with Technical Lead to develop and publish migration workbook instructions for engineers
- Training and support of Windows engineers in migration and post deployment support process
- Pre-migration liaison with end users to confirm deployment, including final validation of software, data and other requirements
- Assist users with back-up of locally stored business data prior to migration
- Migrate user's PC from existing OS to Windows 7 SOE, including installation of required applications
- Provide Day One "floorwalker" support
- Create and maintain log of outstanding day one issues, and record in appropriate client systems
- Assist with training of and post deployment handover to local IT support team
- Level one and two Incident and Problem management
- Identify and record potential project issues and risks
- Manage handover to post migration support manager

TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS ROLE YOU MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING EXPERIENCE:

- Solid experience leading on-site deployment teams on a Windows upgrade project within an Enterprise Environment (2000 + users)
- 5 years + Desktop support experience
- Deployed complex change management programs into large organisations (min 10K people) for large technology upgrades.
- Windows based image design and implementation
- Windows 7 configuration and customisation
- Windows deployment or migration using SCCM and associated technologies such as OSD, PXE, WDS, and USMT
- Strong organisational and documentation skills
