Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Global Talent Manager, lead the global National Grid Strategic Workforce Planning approach to ensure we have the right people, in the right roles, with the right skills at the appropriate time whilst taking the regional context and business needs into account. Working with designated business workforce planning leads, ensure the Global Talent Manager and Global Head of Organisation Design have a clear view of the organisation wide HR Strategic Workforce Planning requirements.Provide best practice guidance to local workforce planning leads on actions to take and in conjunction with local Talent Managers, drive the implementation of plans to ensure we have the right people, in the right roles with the right skills at the right time. The role has a long term outlook of up to 10 years, aligned to our Horizon strategy whilst working with the business to ensure there are clear in year and 3 year workforce plans aligned to the respective operational and people plans.

Key Accountability's

* Reporting to the Global Talent Manager, develop the ongoing global strategic workforce planning strategy for the organisation.

* Working with the global strategy team ensure the ongoing alignment of the organisation wide strategic workforce plan with our evolving business strategy

* Working in conjunction with the global strategy team, local Talent Managers and workforce planning business leads as well as the HRBP teams translate this strategy into a locally relevant workforce plan including contingent workforce requirements

* Build a strong network with peers from other large organisations and scan the external market for best practice against which we can benchmark our own frameworks and approaches in an effort to continuously improve the way we plan for our strategic workforce requirements across the organisation.

* Take the output of the recent E2E process review in the UK and fully implement the recommendations, overseeing the successful implementation and embedding of best practice and consistent 'end to end' global workforce planning processes across the organisation

* Design and take ownership for the workforce planning framework, E2E processes and associated tools, systems and resources and ensure these are applied consistently across the global organisation. Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for workforce planning.

* Work with the local Analytic teams and the Global Process and Performance Data and Analytic team to develop meaningful insights around our global workforce planning, supporting local Talent Managers to use this data to inform local priorities.

* Implement and manage governance processes to ensure that SWFP requirements inform broader CoE strategies and approaches

* Develop a suite of scenarios to model the impact of key drivers eg competition for scarce resources, micro generation which the local business workforce planning leads can use for their forecasting.

* Own and maintain the baseline assumptions including supply assumptions, and keep these up to date in the tools and systems used.

* Own the SWP tools and systems and provide updates and training to the users.

* Provide challenge to our business to ensure demand forecasting and assumptions are robust and account for variables such as productivity enhancements.

* Build and maintain a holistic single view of the truth of the capacity and capability for all critical workforce segments

* Data ownership of our critical job family data within our systems.

* Ensuring the output of Strategic Workforce Planning is connected to the other HR processes

* Maintain the community of practice approach in the UK and expand this to a global approach, continuing the development our strategic workforce planning capability within the business

* Provide hands on support to new SWP deployments and transition these to BAU within the overall process and approach

Experience:

* Expertise in and experience of strategic workforce planning approaches, preferably gained in large organisations

* Knowledge of, and experience in designing, implementing and maintaining workforce planning processes and approaches

* Strategic thought leadership with the ability to turn that thinking into a clear vision and executable plan

* Comfortable operating at a strategic level but also able to execute effectively and at pace

* Strong analytical skills

* Ability to influence others - evidence of excellent relationship building ability across a wide variety of audiences and situations.

* Excellent networking and collaboration skills - able to use that network to facilitate bench marking and best practice research.

* Experience of managing projects or programs of work.

* Demonstrate a sound level of commercial acumen to create a business aligned workforce strategy

Qualifications Required:

Educated to degree level or equivalent
