Lead Developer

DESCRIPTION:

We're searching for a Lead Developer with expert knowledge of programming languages or databases to support a three month contract in either Georgia or Texas. Must have excellent understanding of the entire project life cycle and the ability to guide and direct project teams in the requirements gathering, design, and development of complex applications/programs.

This is a software development position focused on projects associated with the Sterling Order Management System, primarily utilizing Java. This developer will need to be able to interpret business requirements and functional design specifications and use them to create new applications and enhance existing applications.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Work closely with architects to ensure proper system design.
- Ensure highest quality implementations from design through QA to production.
- Assist multiple team members and other project leads.
- Anticipate hardware and software design needs. View packages and products to determine viability within the solution being considered, or if they would be a good solution in other areas.
- View software packages, products and define, prioritize, plan and implement solutions across multiple complex projects.
- Ensure the team comprehends and applies the established processes, policies, standards and procedures.
- Provide status reports to manager and review boards on complex development projects.
- Ensure compliance and conduct appropriate test reviews as necessary.
- Interpret business requirements and functional design specifications and use them to create new applications and enhance existing applications.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- High school diploma and/or GED is required.
- Must have at least five years of relevant work experience.
- Must have expert knowledge with databases.
- Experience in Java Development and Sterling Order Management required.
- Previous experience with JMS (MQ Series), XML (XPATH, XSLT) strongly preferred.
- Previous experience in technical project leadership role. Retail/business experience a plus.
- BS Computer Science or related field preferred, MS a plus (preferred).
- Ability to communicate to a wide variety of audiences, both business and technical.
- Understands the financial implications of the project (ie software capitalization, cost/benefits, etc.).
- Strong decision making abilities. Ability to lead and mentor others.
