Lead Data Cabling Engineer

My client, based in High Wycombe is looking for a Lead Data Cabling Engineer. The position requires candidates to have the ability to travel the majority of the time, with frequent travel across Europe.

POSITION PURPOSE:
The Engineer is a professional position that completes the installation, modification, repair and maintenance of cameras, Bluetooth beacons, data cabling and other devices within retail stores and shopping malls. The engineer will survey installation areas to determine work methods, tools, materials, etc. The engineer will be responsible for cabling and termination of Cat5 and Cat6, and various other wiring disciplines including the testing and troubleshooting of wiring problems. The Lead Engineer will act as the primary contact for all installations and must utilise efficient and effective communications to relay all statuses, risks, dependencies, and timelines, both verbally and in writing, to the respective Project Manager. He/She will be accountable for delivering all projects on-time and on-budget. The Technician is responsible for making independent judgements and adhering to proper installation guidelines

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
Responsible for running new cabling in new or existing buildings.
Termination, testing and troubleshooting of cabling.
Organising, forming, dressing and labelling cables to industry standards.
Diagnose and correct CAT5 and CAT6 cabling problems.
Removal and demolition of abandoned cables.
Attend training and safety meetings. Work safely at all times utilising the necessary Personal Protection Equipment and demonstrate safe working practices.
Serve as a liaison between office and field, communicating all information.
Pre-building all IT hardware in the assembly facility.
Perform administrative tasks including, but not limited to, documenting test results and as-built, completing safety reports, keeping safety meeting minutes, maintaining log books/sign-offs, RAMS, providing labour summary reports, etc.
Order and manage inventory of materials.
Develop project plan including required materials, deliver schedules, completion. schedules, manpower requirements and tool/equipment lists
Ability to properly instruct other technicians on techniques, work, etc. as needed to keep project work flowing.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
IPAF and CSCS card preferred

REQUIRED:
Willing to travel across Europe frequently
Must possess vehicle to travel
Must have own tools and equipment
Additional European language preferred
Reasonable knowledge of electrical equipment, wiring, data and structured cabling

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Minimum of 3 years' experience with data and structured cabling.
Demonstrate knowledge of LAN/WAN network topologies, cabling standards and components.
An understanding of the retail industry and how client organisations implement technology solutions is preferred.
Must have experience travelling outside of the United Kingdom.

Ability to travel 80% - 100% of the time
Fluent written and spoken communication in English
Valid driver's license and passport required
