Lead BI Analyst - Cognos & Datastage - 6 Month Contract (Q8)

This major government department based north of the CBD is currently looking for an experienced LEAD BI ANALYST to manage the technical design of a major Business Intelligence project from beginning to end.  You will be required to review technical documentation, system design and coding; and coaching other technical staff in effective system development techniques and technical problem solving. This is an initial 6 month contract with potential to extend. 

YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO:

- Scope, develop and understand technical considerations with the client and/or third party partners as required;
- Produce Data Models, Glossaries, Logical Design Documents and Physical Design Documents;
- Analyse and design interfaces to source/target systems;
- Develop options analysis documentation, as required, to identify suitable solutions that meet the Information Requirements Specification;
- Assist in the development of estimates, project schedule and other project documents;
- Support aspects of testing by Information Technology Branch and end-users;
- Develop an implementation plan to ensure successful implementation of any chosen solution/s;
- Provide advice and assistance to project managers on issues and risks affecting the project;
- Work collaboratively with the project team members and stakeholders;
- Coordinate work effort with project team members;
- Provide a quality assurance role for work developed by the Project Team;
- Provide timely and accurate reporting of progress as directed;
- Provide an appropriate level of documentation for work undertaken

TO BE SUCCESSFUL YOU WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:- - Excellent analysis and writing skills with the ability to simplify complex issues appropriate to the intended audience.
- Demonstrated high level of experience and skills in the IBM COGNOS AND DATASTAGE PRODUCTS AND ORACLE DATABASES.
- Good communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical personnel.
- Ability to work to an agreed schedule.
- Proven track record of delivering effective and efficient service.
- Ability to operate in an independent manner with little supervision.
- Proven track record of working effectively in a team environment.
- Knowledge and use of system life cycle methodologies, in particular Business Intelligence design concepts.
