LAMP system administrator + PHP skills

Tasks:

Resolution of highly complex availability, capacity, security and performance issues.

Monitor and maintain multiple public-facing web sites serving

Troubleshoot and maintain critical development, testing and production environments

Coordinate with hosting provider to rollout releases of the application at low usage moments, generally late in the evening

Diagnose and address performance and tuning issues whenever and wherever they occur

Identify reoccurring issues with hosting provider and implement resolution plan

Installation and configuration of software, releases, patches, and post install validation following a strict change control and release process

Patching and Compiling packages from source

Requirements:

Minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience

End-to-end N-tier architecture expertise (including OS, server hardware, network appliance & storage)

3+ years of Linux (Ubuntu preferred), LAMP (PHP)

Working experience with Virtualization (Xen Server and VMWare), and CDNs

Experience in scaling an application for enterprise needs

Experience with high availability, performance, replication with MySQL

Experience with Varnish, GlusterFS, Memcached, Solr/Lucene are all big plusses

Knowledge of standard Internet protocols including: TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, SSH, NFS, LDAP

Experience with configuration of HAProxy is a plus

Configuration management systems using Puppet is a plus

Hands-on experience migrating Web applications and Websites from one managed hosting environment to another is a plus

Ability to plan, document, and effectively administer applications in an engineering environment

Maintaining in-depth and up-to-date knowledge of the technologies relevant to security, network, server, operating system, and storage architecture, along with associated best practices.
