Laboratory Assistant Job

LABORATORY ASSISTANT needed for a CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in NEWARK, DE.

THE BIG PICTURE - TOP SKILLS SHOULD YOU POSSESS:

- Genetic toxicology
- Microbiology
- Mammalian tissue culture

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- With guidance from supervision, primary responsibility is to assist technical personnel in general laboratory operations and routine laboratory or information handling tasks in support of scientific research.
- The successful candidate will be expected to conduct GLP, non-GLP and Discovery genetic toxicology in vitro assays.
- The person will also be expected to compose SOPs, present data and discuss changes in laboratory procedures in a clear and concise manner.
- Perform tasks according to accepted methods and training prescribed by the work group.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- B.S. in biology or related field with relevant experience in genetic toxicology and/or microbiology including skills such as working with biosafety cabinets, incubators, centrifuges, pipettors and general laboratory equipment.
- The person should be able to work under sterile conditions, and do basic calculations and formulations.

BONUS POINTS! OTHERWISE KNOWN AS PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Prior experience with the Bacterial Reverse Mutation Test (Ames test) highly desirable.
- Additional experience with mammalian tissue culture, including skills such as evaluating common cell types microscopically for chromosomal aberrations, viability, general morphology and micronuclei, is considered an advantage.
