Laboratory Analyst, Gloucester

This is an excellent opportunity for a Laboratory Analyst to work in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire, for the UK's number one dairy business and a company who believe in encouraging success - both business and personal. This role is for a six month Contract.

Purpose of Job
As Laboratory Analyst you will carry out micro testing and sampling of incoming raw materials, in process materials and finished products in accordance with Company Standard Methods Manuals, Industry Codes of Practice and to the CLAS standard.

Nature & Scope of the Job
* The Laboratory Analyst plays a vital role in the running of both of the Main Laboratory and also the factory satellite labs where you will carry out essential testing and report results.
* The biggest challenge in the role is that of adverse results and the procedures around reporting them as appropriate, although you will follow laid down procedures for this and can ask for guidance from the QC Manager or the Laboratory coordinator.
* Planning: Daily tasks are set each day according to the lab workplan and so good organisational and time Management skills are needed for the role.
* Organising: The ability to work with others in order to complete the tasks, as per the daily plan.
* Working contacts: these will be the Lab staff, the Technical QA Staff or management and also the production operativesthis includes all aspects of the lab quality Management system.
* Ensuring all required sampling and testing is completed; this includes swabbing/sampling in the factory
* Providing accurate information to both internalthis also includes the reporting of any adverse results as according to procedures to the Technical Management team
* Advising operations teams on product disposition and corrective action following adverse results
* Working with the team in collecting lab deliveries, dealing with lab waste streams and supplying consumables to the factory as required ensuring minimum impact to production downtime.
* Maintaining the hygiene and housekeeping of the main Laboratory facility to the CLAS standard
* Preparing and supply laboratory media
* Undertaking shelf life analysis of samples

Knowledge & Experience Required
* Educated to GCSE / O level in English, MathsScience A level standard (or equivalent) is preferred.
* Have background experience in a laboratory function, preferably microbiology/other biological function.
* Preferable to have had some experience working with media prep in a laboratory function

Remuneration
In the role of Laboratory Analyst you will work 4 days on / 4 days off, 12 hour shifts and the salary on offer is circa 18,500 per annum pro rata for this six month contract.
