Lab Voice Engineer

To ensure our client is able to develop, integrate and test new technologies by providing labs to functionally prove systems & technologies supplied by third party companies. This includes Digital Television, High Speed Data, Voice, Mobile and wireless.

By providing a professionally supported integration environment, and a high standard of engineering excellence, this role will assist all parties in achieving the highest quality technology platform to deliver services to its European customers and ensure new products are deployed to the required functionality, performance, quality and costs.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Manage the lab voice systems to ensure lab meets overall deliverables
- Ensure lab is adopting and implementing best practice in voice systems operation
- Support lab users in day to day lab activities
- Resolve test & integration issues
- Monitor usage of lab by users to ensure the most effective use of the lab systems & resources
- Adapt existing lab voice systems to meet new lab requirements
- Support the design, build and acceptance testing of new lab based systems
- Produce documentation and use any appropriate means to ensure effective communications of lab systems, processes and procedures to both internal and external bodies
- Develop solid understanding of full end-to-end Liberty Global system architectures
- Ensure the lab voice systems are cost effective, and support budget forecasting for the labs
- Keep updated on related/evolving standards & technologies to maintain technical excellence in the area of voice systems engineering
- Work on non-broadcast activities such as Voice, Mobile, Wireless and High-Speed Data technologies when necessary.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLSSBC/ACME, OpenWave Voicemail, IP-unity, PGW, MGW
- Good understanding of HFC CPE's such as CM and MTA.
- Good understanding of InterconnecT and SDH technologies.
- Good understanding of TestSpirent, Ixia, Abacus, PBX, Asterisk
- Working knowledge of Internet and TCP/IP systems and protocols
- Working knowledge of IT systems using Windows & Unix
- Good knowledge of DOCSIS standards
- Good technical knowledge of end-to-end system architectures including BSS/OSS and delivery networks
- Good command of the English language - other languages are a plus
- Good inter-personal communication skills, must be flexible and team player whilst retaining the ability to be self-reliant and work unsupervised
- Good MS Office, Word, Excel, Visio, Powerpoint, MSProject etc.
- Basic knowledge of Project Management
- Must be able to learn new technologies and techniques quickly - often without formal training
- Must have a very high level of self-motivation
- Effective time management, communication and organizational skills
- Flexibility in working hours.
