Lab Technician Job

LAB TECHNICIAN needed for a CONTRACT position with Yoh's client located in AUSTIN, TX

THE BIG PICTURE - TOP SKILLS YOU SHOULD POSSESS:

- S. in Chemistry/Biology and two (2) years experience in laboratory testing
- Ability to work nights 7pm - 7am.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- Perform analysis and support for the laboratory at the Austin facility with first priorities to ensure safety and quality of data.
- Ensure safety and all other training is current.
- Perform analyses and ensure accurate evaluation, interpretation, and verification of data (samples, calibration, and quality control) for analyses performed in the laboratory with attention to safety, quality and turnaround.
- Perform calibration and selected preventive maintenance of lab equipment.
- Assist in training of new employees on lab methods.
- Work with laboratory personnel and company contacts to ensure supplies are maintained and instrument maintenance is appropriate for laboratory.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts within the lab and company (method evaluations, quality functions, quality assurance issues, etc.)

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- BS in Biology/Chemistry or previous experience required
- Preferred experience one to two (1-2) years with appropriate instrumentation and data interpretation in a production laboratory environment.
- Good computer skills required (scientific instrument software, Word, Excel, Outlook, LIMS)
- Must be able to work in a team environment with good communication skills including presentations to customers
- Must have initiative and be self-motivated.
- Good organization skills.
- Ability to work under time pressure on multiple requests.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be able to work an off-shift with possible call-ins and overtime.
- Ability to work nights 7pm - 7am either Sunday - Tuesday every other Saturday or Wednesday - Friday every other Saturday.
