Job Mission

In this sector, departments such as Mechatronic Technical development, Mechanical development and Environmental Control & Infrastructure, specify, design and qualify the various (sub)-modules of their products. Each department consists of discipline and function oriented groups where emphasis lies on particular competences, architecture or modules in their equipment.

You will be working in the department of Environmental Control & Infrastructure (EC&I), part of the Architecture cluster within the D&E sector. The scope of this department is to develop, deliver, integrate and qualify functional modules & parts of the tools related to temperature and flow control. Technology areas are: gas-, vacuum- and water-flow control, machine infrastructure, temperature control, architecture and design.

Job Description

As Lab Technician you support the staff and engineers in the department, coordinating and facilitating experimental development activities. You are the central owner of several test areas and guard safe and efficient operation in these areas.

In your job, the tasks and responsibilities can be divided in 4 main areas:

1) Training of engineers & competence development

- Secure quality & Way of Working for tests & measurements
- Write and conduct trainings
- Maintain roadmap, keep track on new developments internally and externally
- Steer standardization and commonality of measurement tools/rigs

2) Daily operational management of Facilities & equipment

- Secure daily availability of decent measurement equipment (sensors, data loggers, IR cameras, laptops, etc)
- Calibration (in/out house), replacement and maintenance of equipment, SW
- Registering use of equipment
- Guarding correct use and behaviour of the engineers
- Floor management of EC&I facilities in (clean room) test areas. Coordination and support of various test activities

3) Responsible for clean and safe working

- Interface with the D&E safety team, central point of contact for our department
- Deploy & coordinate safety rules to department staff and engineers
- Deploy 5S+1 regulation for clean room work
- Safeguarding adherence to regulations, correct people & organize audits
- Issue and incident report handling

4) Owner of the department equipment budget

- Own department equipment & test rig budget, assess operational and capital expenses
- Coordinate + forecast equipment needs
- Maintain relations with internal and external suppliers
- Order equipment & coordinate delivery process
- Report to the EC&I overall budget owner
