Lab Technician 1 Job

LAB TECHNICIAN 1 needed for a CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in FREMONT, CA.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

*Perform routine analysis as assigned
*Prepare samples and assist other analysts with sample preparation
*Assist in procedural improvements and participate in problem solving activities
*Perform general maintenance of laboratory
*Completes all other additional assignments as required
*Assist in preparation of sample kits and sample bottles
*Clean glassware and other accessories
*Prepare required reagents and standards

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

*Prior experience of working in the analytical lab environment is preferred
*Capable of learning, understanding and following SOP's to perform assigned duties for both routine and non-routine procedures
*Ability to understand and follow safe handling procedures for hazardous chemicals
*Ability to operate and maintain assigned laboratory instruments
*Good computer skills are required (data entry, Word, Excel, etc.) is preferred
*Must be able to work in a team environment with good communication skills.
*Ability to work independently while sampling at clients' facilities
*Ability to recognize problems with analytical results and variations due to sample type and effectively communicate problems to the appropriate level
*Must have initiative and be self-motivated.
*Good organization skills.
*Good verbal and written skills
*Ability to work under time pressure
*Ability to change plans and work environment on short notice
*Must be able to stand for hours at a time
*Must be able to lift 50 lbs. with the help of coworkers

*B.S. Degree in chemistry or equivalent education or experience is preferred.
