Lab Systems Administrator

Our client is the world's leading computer components manufacturer seeking a LAB SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR to manage a solutions lab infrastructure, including Linux and Windows Servers, Storage Servers, IP Networking devices, power monitoring, infrastructure telemetry and monitoring.

OVERVIEW:

- Install/maintain/tune Linux and Microsoft enterprise applications in the lab environment.
- Assist with lab procurement processes including placing and tracking orders.
- Assist with server hardware, firmware, OS, and applications to develop optimal configurations and installation processes as needed.
- Maintain a journal of configurations and processes that would enable others to replicate your work.
- Assist with training solutions team members on lab infrastructure usage and capabilities.
- Develop scripts in Perl, Python, Bash, Power Shell to assist with server and application performance monitoring.
- Assist with lab purchasing, including product research, placing and tracking orders for the team.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

- Strong Linux and Windows System administration background
- Strong Scripting - Python/Perl/Bash/TCL and other languages
- Experience installing and configuring Microsoft Server operating systems and drivers
- Experience installing and configuring Linux (Redhat, CentOS, Fedora, Ubuntu, Suse)
- Experience IP Networking (network protocols, troubleshooting, etc.)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong problem solving, debug skills
- Must be organized and detail oriented
- BS Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering (or equivalent)

PREFERRED SKILLS:

- Good understanding of IPMI, SNMP and similar manageability technologies
- Technical knowledge of/ability to rapidly learn computer design and components (Desktop/Workstation/Server)
- Experience Microsoft and Linux datacenter applications (Mail, Database, Web, etc.)
- Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, QEMU, etc.)
- Experience assembling server hardware to bring up new sever/Workstation systems
- Experience with Flash Programmers, network and SMBus Protocol Analyzers,
